Menominee Business Center awarded grant for small rural and Tribal business mentoring program.
Area business leaders to mentor under-performing businesses and those with stagnant growth.
Keshena, WI – The Menominee Business Center (MBC) has been awarded a Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) to provide a mentoring program to assist existing rural and Tribal businesses that are under-performing. Local business owner, Terra L. Fletcher (Fletcher Freelance), will be mentoring participants.
Fletcher is quoted, “I’m looking forward to mentoring a local business owner as a part of the RBEG grant. Rather than writing a marketing plan for the company, I will be working with the business owner to write their own plan. Program protégés will leave with enhanced skills that will assist them in business and community growth.”
About Mentor Program
The program will improve the Menominee Nation economy by creating and retaining jobs; providing low cost space for office, business, and light industrial users; support local business development programs; and stimulate private sector initiative on the Menominee Reservation.
During the mentorship, participants will take a readiness/capacity assessment. Then they’ll receive tailored training and technical support to develop their individual and/or organizational business capacity, infrastructure, knowledge, skills, and resources. At the conclusion, summative data will be gathered to measure project impacts and longitudinal changes from the initial baseline.

Fletcher was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year on January 24, 2013 by the Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce. She speaks to businesses and trade associations, and offers classes through Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
